Finishing out 2022 and this blog

I originally started this blog to chronicle my trip to S. America which was cut way short by COVID.  Not sure when or if I will ever take a second attempt, but I'm certainly not just sitting around!

This year has involved a lot of driving.  With high fuel prices I've managed to spend ~$10k just to keep the engine(s) spinning.  Ouch!  All worth it though.  It has included a lot of great times with friends, family, and some just by myself.

In addition to local fun, 2022 included ....

  • A short trailer trip with Joan to Pinnacles National Monument & Big Sur.
  • Death Valley trip with a couple friends.
  • SRMSA trip to Anza-Borrego SP.
  • Canyonlands NP - Needles & Maze Districts with Joan and friends.
  • A 7 week mid-west trailer trip with Joan.
  • Colorado Fall trip to get the flatbed.  Beautiful fall colors!
  • Fall Baja California trip with Joan and friends.

A great year of travel!

While the van and trailer have been fantastic modes of travel, we are in the process of building out a new flatbed camper on a F250 that can (hopefully) bridge the gap between off-road capable and comfort.  It will give a little on both sides of the equation but I am trying to hit a sweet spot in-between somewhere.  We should be picking up the camper in April and finish the systems part of the build so we can start enjoying trips in it the second half of the year.  The van will likely pass on to someone else in 2023 as the new truck camper picks up its responsibilities.  The trailer may have the same destiny.  We'll see.

As the original reason for starting this blog was to keep family and friends updated on the S. America trip and I seem to be living through IG / FB and YouTube mostly now so I will likely no longer post up here.  If you want to continue to see what we are up to please subscribe to one of those social media outlets.

Thanks for following along!
